Products to fragrance you and your home
Welcome to the wonderful world of aromatherapy!
The therapeutic use of herbs and spices appears to be as old as human civilisation itself. Many ancient texts describe the use of plants and oils in ointments and perfumes to aid healing. Some of the greatest civilisations in the world were using aromatic infusions to lift the spirit thousands of years ago. In today’s modern world, with all it’s stresses and health concerns, aromatherapy is more relevant than ever, and there is a growing trend towards the use of natural treatments.
There are literally hundreds of herbs and spices that you can use in aromatherapy, all of which, it is believed, have their own particular properties which may be beneficial to our well-being. It is always advisable to use 100% natural essential oils, bought from a reputable source, so that you can be confident you are using high quality oils that have not been diluted.
As a beginner, we would recommend starting your aromatherapy journey with at least these 5 “must have” oils:
The other important product you need is a good, pure carrier oil. Our particular favourites are Vitamin E oil (wonderfully light on the skin and a great moisturiser) and Grapeseed oil (perfect for sensitive skin and is virtually odourless). Again, there are plenty to choose from and you’re sure to find one in our extensive range to suit your needs and preferences.
Now that you have your starter kit of oils – what do you do with them? Well, there are a myriad of uses for essential oils. You can add them to reed diffusers or atomisers and fragrance your home and workspaces whilst benefitting from the aromatherapy properties of the oils you use. Or add a few drops to your bath water for a relaxing or energising bath. Try mixing lavender, ylang ylang and peppermint to a carrier oil and apply topically to sore, inflamed skin for a cooling, anti-bacterial skin treatment. You can add a few drops of essential oils to your favourite moisturiser and skin products to help with skincare.
